about

Liner Notes by: Hal Lindes of Dire Straits

Like many guitarists before me, there I was, shamelessly on the prowl for more pickups from Seymour Duncan, on the phone to the divinely beautiful Kelly in Artist Relations...
when she mentions Brian Tarquin.... I would have much preferred to be discussing a pair of humbuckers, but Kelly was persistent, and somewhere in the lustful dream of
pickup heaven, I heard the echo of 'Brain's a really nice guy, you two will get on like a house on fire....'

And so started a wonderful and inspired friendship with one of the most ridiculously gifted and flawlessly talented guitarists on the scene today. A relative youngster in retro
analog, tube technology clothing, B.T.'s towering guitar licks are only surpassed by the size of his heart and soul.

A supreme maestro of the Gold Top and Marshall Stack, B.T. presents his Fretworx, a solo album laced with guest appearances with some of the hottest gun slingers around
today, all adding up to an exquisite journey fueled by steel and wood, glowing hot tubes and celestial speakers being pushed to their limit and beyond, and of course, mountains
of emotion and heartfelt notes, singing their way deep into the listener's soul....

From the HUGE snare hits that kick off the opening track and launch the Fretworx CD like a monster rocket, BLUE WIND is off and running, burning the fretboards of B.T. and
Doug Doppler, catapulting this fabulous Jeff Beck classic up another iconic notch. Dipping his Gibson into the waters of Santana, B.T. bathes his N.Y.C roots in the coquettishly
sultry SPANISH HARLEM along with Frank Gambale.

Another side to B.T.'s musical coin, TOWERS sweeps us along a cinematic journey that's evocative, compelling and along with Steve Morse, downright magnificent

With CONSTANTINOPLE, B.T. packs your bags and transports you to another part of the world, somewhere dark and dangerously seductive - beads of sweat will be forming on
the goose bumps of the skin by the time Will Ray's steel bar glides majestically over the guitar strings - all wrapped up brilliantly with Chris Ingram's Hammond Organ
performance..

Something is going down on 86TH STREET...rich and throaty woman tones from B.T.'s Gold Top -- unbelievably cool, virtuoso funky, bass squawks from Randy Coven.

SOLIDARITY has B.T.'s Les Paul wearing a strong, no messing, NYC attitude - no axe is an island, but when it comes to licks with attitude, B.T. shows he holds his own, strutting along side the brilliance of Max Middleton's classic Fender
Rhodes performance.

An atomic blast of sunshine with DIONYSUS- pedal to the metal, fast driving wind blowing through the hair.....

Soaring twin guitar harmonies, MANHATTAN takes a nod in Thin Lizzy's direction - a dream theme for air guitarists....

Tear drops on B.T.'s Gold Top in BLACK ROSE, singing beautifully rich, classic Les Paul tones on this soulful, heartfelt guitar ballad.

It could be said I'm biased, but APHRODITE sounds like a classic. Like a warm visit from a favorite old friend - B.T. on top form, playing his proverbial six string arse off...tear in eye stuff.....

Stunning funky Wah in JUNGLE ROOM BOOGIE, Max Middleton's soulfully tight clavinet shooting out of the left speaker, and gorgeous Fender Rhodes floating out of the right. The gas is full on, the pot is cooking....with a sprinkle of early Zep
thrown in for good measure.

TEARS sings beautifully sweet, crystal clear Fender tones from Rob Balducci, soaring Marshall tones from our host....

YORKVILLE pretty much says it all - Funky, twin guitar melodies, streets of NYC revisited. Blown away by the genius Wah-Wah performance, and Chuck Loeb's exquisite jazz solo.

Rocking down the WESTSIDE HIGHWAY with the muscle power of a freight train, B.T. and James Ryan providing a veritable feast of deliciously cool guitar tones....

TRIUMPHANT WE STAND -.Showdown at High Midnight with Brian Tarquin & Steve Booke, shoot out between two heavy weight gunslingers.....Acoustics jostling Les Pauls.... a bed of non partisan Hammond Organ lurking in the shadows......

There's nothing tender about FUNK ME TENDER - This track is scary - Muscle City personified - pure virtuoso athletic playing from the governors Steve Vai and Randy Coven.

So there you go my lovelies...crank the volume to the max on this puppy....
